Manchester United returns to Premier League action this evening as they travel to Burnley.

Ralf Rangnick’s side will be trying to avenge their FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday night.

This will be Sean Dyche’s side’s second league game in four days.

Burnley and Watford drew 0-0 in a game that did little to help either team’s prospects.

The Clarets, who are rooted to the bottom of the table, will be eager for three points to help them avoid relegation.

Here’s how Mark Lawrenson and Paul Merson envisage Tuesday night’s trip to Turf Moor unfolding.

Lawrenson, Mark

“I expected to see a different Manchester United under Ralf Rangnick, and I expected them to press more – but that hasn’t occurred,” he told BBC Sport.

“He has had some fantastic outcomes, but they have yet to string together a solid performance under him for 90 minutes – the latest example being Friday’s FA Cup defeat by Middlesbrough – so you have to wonder what the problem is for them.

“Despite all of their troubles this season, United is still fourth, but they will need to improve if they want to stay there.

“If they are to establish some stability, their players must also contribute. At the present, it appears that there is no one in the locker room to rouse them when they are in need.

“Having said that, United should still beat Burnley, who are at the bottom of the standings with only one win this season. If they don’t, it’ll most likely be for the reasons we’ve already discussed.”

Burnley 0-2 Manchester United is the prediction.

Mr. Michael Owen

“The addition of Wout Weghorst to the Burnley team is a huge boost,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Even before Chris Wood left, they probably needed another striker. Sean Dyche, on the other hand, was desperate to get a couple more people in, so I’m concerned they didn’t do enough business.

“United, on the other hand, had a period in which they did not do anything. They’ve cut the group a little, which may be a good thing in certain ways. Rangnick can now settle on an 11-man squad without having to appease a large group of players.”

Burnley 0-2 Manchester United is the prediction.

Merson, Paul

“Manchester United lost to Middlesbrough, but I thought they performed well in the first half,” Merson told Sportskeeda.

“They don’t have much of a sense of identity right now.

“You want someone like N’Golo Kante in there if you’re going to play a 4-2-2-2 with a midfield two.

“Ralf Rangnick appears to be attempting to keep people pleased at times. He’ll eventually have to switch to a 4-3-3 formation.

“If I’m being honest, he has a lot of square pegs going into round holes, and they’re all over the place. He has a squad full of players who he does not require.

“Burnley’s Premier League performance this season has disappointed me.

“They manage to keep clean sheets, but they never appear to be scoring.

“At the greatest level, I’d be amazed if Manchester United lost this game.”

Burnley 0-2 Manchester United is the prediction.
