Bruno Fernandes believes that Manchester United’s triumph over Brentford on Saturday was well-deserved, asserting that they had ‘controlled the game’.

Fully aware of the significance of securing a win against Brentford following consecutive defeats to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, Manchester United endured a nightmarish start when they conceded in the 26th minute.

Andre Onana, who could have done better in dealing with Mathias Jensen’s low-driven shot, was at fault, while Casemiro was also culpable for a giveaway in the buildup to the goal, leading to his substitution at halftime.

The second half witnessed various changes, but Manchester United appeared to be struggling for ideas, and Brentford seemed poised for a deserved 1-0 victory until the introduction of Scott McTominay.

McTominay, who replaced Sofyan Amrabat in the 87th minute, staged a remarkable late equalizer in the third minute of injury time and went on to score once again, clinching the victory in the seventh minute of added time.

Manchester United can thank McTominay for the remarkable turnaround, and Fernandes expressed his relief when speaking with MUTV.

When asked about the dressing room’s reaction, Fernandes stated, “Relief, happiness, and we all concur that we earned this result because we controlled the game very effectively for the entire 90 minutes.

We had opportunities to score in the first half, but today we secured three points with two goals from Scott in the final minutes. It was a truly positive outcome for us, as we needed these points today.”

Fernandes also highlighted the importance of the substitutes, echoing the manager’s sentiments. He added, “I know it’s tough to be on the bench, everyone wants to be on the pitch, but Scott came on for just 10 minutes and scored two goals.

At United, it’s Fergie time, and scoring at this stage of the game is quite common. Moreover, it’s essential for an academy player to be the one scoring. Scott delivered the victory today, and we are all genuinely delighted for him.”

In conclusion, Fernandes emphasized the team’s desire and unity throughout the match, highlighting the collective effort and determination that contributed to the victory.
