CB Eder Militao

Eder Militao had a promising first season with Real Madrid in 2019-2020, contributing significantly to the team’s championship push with his shutout of Athletic Club star forward Inaki Williams at San Mames. Militao, on the other hand, wasn’t playing at the same pace he is now.

The inclusion of the Brazilian defender on this list comes after Los Blancos conceded just two goals in five consecutive matches against Liverpool (twice), Barcelona, Getafe, and Cadiz. They held clean sheets against Getafe, Cadiz, and Liverpool, and Militao was largely responsible for the 0-0 draw with Getafe.

Militao possesses all of the qualities needed to excel as a center-back for Real Madrid. If both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane leave this summer, Real can rely on the former FC Porto midfielder, who has shown he can be a good starter by going toe-to-toe with two of Europe’s top clubs and not looking out of place in the process.

Militao’s game has a Ramos feel to it, with his calm demeanor on the ball and sharp long passing. This season, he’s even scored with his head. The 23-year-old has always shown promise, but after being linked with a move away from Madrid, his recent performances have convinced Madridistas that he must be a part of the club’s future.
