With 11 goals in the Manchester derby, Rooney, who won five Premier League titles with United, is the all-time leading scorer.

His most notable goal occurred in February 2011 at Old Trafford, when his magnificent overhead kick earned United a 2-1 victory against their local rivals.

The former England international opted to retire in January 2021, but Rooney continues to terrorize City.

Wayne Rooney’s eldest son, Kai Rooney, began his career with Manchester City as a seven-year-old before moving to America and playing with Bethesda SC Washington.

Kai Rooney followed in his father’s footsteps by signing a deal with Manchester United after the Rooney family returned to England in 2020.

“I’m a pleased parent,” Wayne remarked after Kai agreed to terms on a contract extension in December 2020. “He’s been working hard, and he definitely moved over to the United States with us to continue his football career.”

“He had a tryout with Manchester United and impressed the coaches.” I’m happy for him because he signed his paperwork yesterday.

“He had other possibilities, other teams to go to, but he decided to sign with Manchester United, so that was his decision, not mine.”

He plays for United’s Under-12s alongside Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. and made headlines earlier this season after scoring four goals in a match against Liverpool.

Kai, who wears the No.10 shirt like his father, has now scored against City’s young squad as well. The 12-year-old made a brilliant move into the box before looping the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net.

United supporters will be hoping that he does something similar against City’s first team in the future.
