After being back in the summer transfer window, Solskjaer felt convinced he could lead United to Premier League victory.

Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo all made the move to Old Trafford, and the trio was seen as significant purchases at the time.

However, Solskjaer was unable to get the best out of his new signings, and United regressed under his leadership.

He was sacked of his duties last month after crushing defeats to Watford, Manchester City, and Liverpool, and Rangnick was installed as his replacement.

The Norwegian departed amid ’emotional’ moments, according to The Athletic, with employees talking to the 48-year-old.

When asked about his dismissal, Solskjaer allegedly replied, “That’s football,” despite the Norwegian having to deal with a slew of issues throughout his stay.

Since his resignation, the former United manager has remained in England, though he may travel to Norway for the holidays.

He’s claimed to still be residing in Cheshire and recently said he ‘did his best’ while bumping upon United fans when picking up food.

He can undoubtedly look back on his time at the club with fondness.

Jose Mourinho was fired in December 2018, and Solskjaer was brought in to replace him. Mourinho’s frosty demeanor has broken the dressing room.

Players respected the United legend’s stature as a club legend, and he became popular almost immediately.

In March 2019, Solskjaer was offered the role permanently after calming the ship and assisting the Red Devils in gaining momentum.

It appeared to be the perfect move at the time, with Ed Woodward opting for the Norwegian over Mauricio Pochettino.

Under Solskjaer, though, United did well to finish second and third in the Premier League, but they never came close to winning it.

And that’s what Rangnick will have to do now that he’s in charge until the conclusion of the season.

United expects to climb the Premier League standings this season, especially with a favorable schedule ahead of them.

And it’s still up in the air as to where they’ll end up.

United’s Michael Carrick has also left the club since Solskjaer’s departure.

Following the dismissal of his former teammate, Carrick was appointed manager, supervising matches against Villarreal, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

And, according to the publication, when the news of the former midfielder’s departure surfaced, there was a fresh emotional environment.

United knew Carrick was on his way out the day before their triumph against Arsenal.

They chose to keep things under wraps since they didn’t want to create a distraction before the match against Mikel Arteta’s team.

In the meantime, last month, Solskjaer indicated that he was proud of his work at the club.

He expressed his pride by saying, “Very, very proud.”
