According to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel on the Red Devils’ manager search.

Erik ten Hag of Ajax and Mauricio Pochettino of Paris Saint-Germain are allegedly the two frontrunners for the projected vacancy at the end of the season.

Ten Hag, the current Ajax manager, is said to have held negotiations with the Premier League club about being the next permanent manager in the Old Trafford dugout.

With Ten Hag allegedly impressing United representatives, Romano speculated on whether United could choose their next manager by the end of the month:

“Perhaps it’s too early; I believe they’re still in the process, so I’d say end of March.” Let’s wait and see how it turns out. I’ll keep it open, but it could be too early.

“But I’m sure they expect to finish the process in like 2-3 weeks, and then I honestly don’t know if it’ll be public or not — there is no word on the club’s side about this.”

Given that the Red Devils still have nine Premier League games to play, there is no imminent rush for United to find their new manager.

However, if they complete the process by the middle of next month, they will have plenty of time to plan ahead for the summer transfer window with their new manager.

And, with sources indicating that the meeting with the Dutchman went well, we’ll be watching to see if United’s manager search picks up steam in the coming week.
