Manchester United felt they’d discovered an absolute gem of a footballer in Donny van de Beek back in the summer of 2020.

The Dutchman got off to a good start, looking active in his first three games. The brilliant form, however, rapidly faded, and the ex-Ajax man would spend far more time than he would have liked glued to the replacement’s bench.

Despite working under a new management, Van van Beek’s life hasn’t changed much in the last eighteen months. The midfielder simply wants to play football, which is why a move elsewhere has been discussed this month in some form.

Van de Beek is poised to receive his dream, according to Alex Turk. A deal has been reached, and the 24-year-old United star will be loaned away for the rest of the season. He will travel to Crystal Palace to work with Patrick Vieira.

We reported a few days ago that Palace believed they had a “good chance” of acquiring Donny. That source wasn’t entirely wrong.

Although Van van Beek will undoubtedly be disappointed, considering his desire to play at a higher level, this is an excellent opportunity for him to demonstrate his quality in this country.

It’s difficult to gain confidence and momentum when you’re barely playing, so the midfielder may need a couple more games to get fully up to speed. I just hope he gets an opportunity to start on a regular basis and, hopefully, prove all his critics wrong.
