Marcus Rashford has informed friends that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer, Football Insider has learned.

This season, the 24-year-old superstar has retreated to the outside of Old Trafford amid uncertainty about his future.

According to a source familiar with Rashford’s predicament, the player has informed those close to him that he is willing to sever relations with his boyhood club in order to relaunch his career.

It is reported he has discussed his lack of playing time with his closest circle and how a new challenge may be the best solution.

United supporters would be outraged at the prospect of losing a hometown hero who has graduated from their academy and made nearly 300 first-team appearances.

Rashford is also well-known for his off-the-field activities advocating for free school meals.

Some have speculated that the forward’s attention over the last two seasons has not been totally on football.

Rashford has refuted that claim, taking to social media to defend his recent efforts.

His attitude on a possible exit is not thought to be tied to the club’s hunt for a new manager behind the scenes.

Rashford’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023, with a one-year extension option.

This season, he has only five goals in 26 appearances, starting only one-third of United’s Premier League games.

In total, he has 93 goals and 58 assists in 297 games for United.
