Contract signed, deal done, Man United sign talented midfielder on 3-and-a-half-year contract
Toby Collyer has been added to Manchester United’s youth team.
Manchester United, in my opinion, does their greatest job in the junior system. Several high-profile signings have failed in the past. Instead, the Old Trafford club should concentrate on what it does best: developing young talent.
As it stands, the academy at Old Trafford is brimming with top-tier talent. From Hannibal Mejbri to Alejandro Garnacho, several future first-teamers have been sent out this season.
It stands to reason, then, that the Red Devils will continue to snare a slew of newcomers from the United Kingdom. What’s the most recent addition? Toby Collyer, who was recruited from Brighton.
Fabrizio Romano has the inside scoop, claiming that the deal has been completed and contracts have been signed today. The excellent midfielder has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with United.
Collyer, who has already been capped at the England youth level, appears to have been recognised as a young guy with enormous promise, with a future first-team career at United a genuine possibility.
As a young footballer, there is no better location to study your profession than at the Theatre of Dreams. Collyer will understand that if he performs well, those huge possibilities could be right around the corner.
It may be a year or two before we hear this name spoken more frequently, but the sooner he gets to that training ground, the better it will be for everyone involved.
The real work begins for Collyer, who is undoubtedly eager to get started.
It will be difficult to beat out competition from the other top-tier young midfielders on the books, but I am confident that this rising talent can make an impact.
