Mason Mount marked his triumphant return from injury with a stellar performance for Manchester United, while Sofyan Amrabat made an impressive full debut.

Erik ten Hag, the United manager, has high expectations for Mason Mount’s future performances as he fully integrates into the team.

Mount, who had been sidelined with a muscular injury since August 20, made his comeback in spectacular fashion during the 3-0 League Cup victory against Crystal Palace.

He notched his first assist, setting up Casemiro’s headed goal, and delivered a virtuoso first-half display.

In a pre-planned move, Ten Hag substituted the £60 million-rated Mount at half-time, preparing him for the upcoming Premier League rematch against Palace on Saturday.

Sofyan Amrabat, another midfielder, made his debut for United, initially playing as an auxiliary left-back in the first half before transitioning to midfield when the second half commenced. He was eventually substituted after an hour of play.

Speaking about Mount’s performance, Ten Hag remarked, “He played very well. I’m confident that as he becomes fully integrated, his performance will improve significantly.

He’s just beginning his journey with United.”

Regarding Sofyan Amrabat, Ten Hag emphasized his versatility, stating, “Sofyan is a valuable addition to the team.

One of the reasons we signed him is his ability to adapt to various positions. Wherever the team needs him, he can excel.”
