Fabrizio Romano names four players on Man Utd’s transfer ‘list’ for January Transfer

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United is actively pursuing a new center-back in the transfer market and has identified four potential defensive targets.

Last summer, the club’s desire to bolster its defensive line was apparent, but financial constraints and the collapse of Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham United hindered their efforts to secure a new defender.

However, Romano has revealed that United is already eyeing potential arrivals in the center-back position for upcoming transfer windows. The club is considering players from Nice, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, and Sporting.

One of the prominent targets is Jean-Clair Todibo, who is “100 percent on the list.” Romano mentioned that positive contacts with the player’s agents were established during the summer.

Todibo, who dreams of playing in the Premier League, has garnered interest from United. While negotiations haven’t begun, discussions are progressing positively.

Another player under consideration is Edmond Tapsoba, although his price tag was deemed “super expensive” in the previous summer, around €55 million to €60 million (£47.5 million to £52 million). United will reassess the situation in the upcoming transfer window.

Antonio Silva from Benfica is also a favorite option for Manchester United. Although unattainable last summer, the club remains keen on him, and they maintain a strong relationship with his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Discussions surrounding Silva’s potential transfer will likely take place in the coming months as part of United’s center-back search.

Adding to the list is Goncalo Inacio, a left-footed center-back from Sporting. He has attracted interest from several clubs, including Newcastle and Liverpool.

United have been monitoring him during their trips to Portugal while tracking Antonio Silva. Inacio’s unique skill set makes him an appealing option for the club.
