On Tuesday night, Lewandowski demonstrated that he hasn’t lost any of his goal-scoring ability by scoring an 11-minute hat-trick against RB Salzburg in the Champions League.

United are looking to add a new striker this summer and had hoped to bring in a younger replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, according to Bild, United has indicated that they are prepared to make a bid for Lewandowski if he indicates his want to leave Bayern, which might happen this summer.

Bayern’s only chance to get a good deal for Lewandowski, given his age and contract situation, is this summer if he refuses to sign a new contract.

With Lewandowski reportedly interested in playing in England, this might open the door for United.

Last summer, Chelsea were interested in signing Lewandowski, but the Pole chose to stay in Germany.

Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata are all expected to go on free transfers at the conclusion of the season, while Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Dean Henderson, and Phil Jones are all possible departures.

Much hinges on United’s ability to qualify for the Champions League, with the Red Devils considered long shots to finish in the top four.

Winning the competition this season is another way to return to the Champions League, but United’s last-16 tie against Atletico Madrid is still up in the air, with the aggregate score at 1-1 after the first leg.
