Ralf Rangnick has already highlighted the key piece of the puzzle for Manchester United rebuild

With Erik ten Hag being officially named Manchester United’s new permanent manager, Ralf Rangnick, who has been serving as interim manager, will transition into a consulting role. He will be combining this position with national management since the German has agreed to serve as Austria’s manager until 2024.

Rangnick stated in an official statement, “I will take over as Austria’s national team manager at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with [Manchester] United.” I’m looking forward to playing a role in re-establishing United as a true force.”

Many fans are concerned that the German’s new role with the Austrian national team would have an impact on his work with United. Rangnick is likely to continue to play an important role in United’s recruitment.

But what kind of player will United be searching for? Rangnick stated at a press conference that the club may require up to ten acquisitions, but with players like Declan Rice being priced out of a move and others like Aurelien Tchouameni wanting to play Champions League games, United may need to be inventive in the market.

Rangnick is aware of this. In a recent news conference, he stated, “The most essential aspect for me right now is recruitment.” It’s not just a matter of identifying those players; it’s also a matter of meeting them and persuading them to join this club, despite the fact that we won’t be competing in the Champions League.”

“In my opinion, the club should aim to uncover and develop future top star players.” It’s also crucial to know what Erik [ten Hag] thinks.”

Over the last decade, United has struggled with how they develop players. Within the club’s fanbase, it is widely held that all players that come to United end up worse for it, either halting their growth or destroying their reputation.

Anthony Martial is an excellent example. His stock has plummeted practically every year he has been at the club, and fans will tell you that, with the exception of a few excellent spells, it has been a constant downhill slope for a man they once had high hopes for.

Many fans fear the same thing may happen to Marcus Rashford, and there are plenty of other players in the same boat. This must alter if United are to turn their fortunes around and successfully rebuild the club from the ground up.

Rangnick praised Arsenal’s transfer strategy, saying the Gunners made clever purchases like Martin Odegaard – the right type of player at the right price. This is what United must do to resolve its issue.
