Liverpool return to the Premier League today as they face Newcastle United at St James’ Park (12.30).

From now until the conclusion of the season, the Reds will attack on four fronts, with each game being viewed as a cup final.

Jurgen Klopp’s men defeated Villarreal 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final earlier this week.

Liverpool’s victory over a team that had previously knocked Juventus and Bayern Munich out of Europe’s best club competition was due to their humility.

That is exactly the approach that Klopp will be expected to have against the Magpies.

Newcastle were overwhelming favorites to be relegated, but it’s now a question of how high they can finish in the standings.

Eddie Howe has done an outstanding job since coming over as manager, and the Magpies are presently eighth in the table following four straight victories.

Klopp may be tempted to make changes to the Liverpool squad that defeated Villarreal.

With a win, the Reds will go to the top of the table and put pressure on Manchester City ahead of their trip to Leeds United later in the evening.

1. Alisson Becker, goalkeeper

Leading the Golden Glove race, he will be anxious for another clean sheet.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, RB

Was outstanding against Villarreal, and a repeat performance is required.

3. Joel Matip (CB)

For most of the Premier League season, he was Klopp’s primary center-back alongside van Dijk.

4. Virgil van Dijk (CB)

Chris Wood, the Newcastle striker, is set to engage in a physical war.
