Manchester United have five-man managerial shortlist, with surprise name added
After the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this season, Ralf Rangnick is currently in position as interim manager at Old Trafford, with a new permanent appointment likely ahead of next season.
According to the Guardian, Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Thomas Tuchel, and Luis Enrique are among the big-name prospects being evaluated by Manchester United.
Those other options make sense for the Red Devils, but Lopetegui appears to be a strange decision given his lack of experience managing such a large club.
The Spanish strategist has impressed during his time at Sevilla, but he also had a brief and disappointing stint at Real Madrid, and he doesn’t appear to be the kind of large figure required to take on such a difficult assignment at United right now.
It would be quite a statement if United could lure Tuchel away from Chelsea, but fans would almost certainly be content with the majority of the other names on the list.
