Despite not being on the four-man shortlist, Zinedine Zidane is the “best candidate” for the soon-to-be-vacant Manchester United manager’s post.

According to former Red Devils striker Louis Saha, his compatriot would be a “great match” for United, but the club may need to become more appealing in order to lure him.

After sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, Manchester United recruited Ralf Rangnick as interim manager, with the intention of elevating him to the position of consultant in June.

Rangnick will next be entrusted with assisting United in finding his long-term replacement in the dugout, and four candidates are already on the Red Devils’ managerial shortlist.

Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Julen Lopetegui, and Luis Enrique are the managers associated with the permanent Man United manager’s role.

Although Zidane is not currently in contention, Saha believes his former club is losing a trick by bypassing the Real Madrid star.

“I believe Zidane would be an excellent fit. I’m not sure if Manchester United needs to become a more appealing option in order to entice him. Zidane is the finest choice in my opinion “Genting Casino was informed by Saha.

“As a manager, he would boost some players’ confidence. Consider what Zidane has accomplished, not only as a player but also as a manager.

“He has also a track record of developing young players and bringing them to levels they never imagined. I truly like his profile, and I believe he would excel there.”

When asked if Zidane’s basic command of the English language may put him off, Saha responded: “Perhaps this is one element because he is not well-known for being a great communicator in English, but he is aware of this.

“As previously stated, communication is critical for any manager in order for his or her players to comprehend his or her tactics and philosophy. If he doesn’t feel comfortable talking in English, it could be a factor because it’s crucial.

“[However], the man’s charisma speaks for itself. His pedigree is very impressive, but perhaps it isn’t always enough. I am unable to speak for Zidane.

“What is certain is that any new manager will have to find the appropriate means to communicate, and he will obviously be aided far more than the current manager because of who he is. If he were to join, I am confident that he would be a huge success.”
