According to media sources, Manchester United have agreed on a cost and contract of £88.2 million for the South American center half.

According to the BBC, the Red Devils have negotiated a £57 million agreement with the Dutch champions, while The Mirror reports that the 24-year-old star has inked a five-year deal worth £31.2 million with United.

Because Martinez must start, fans should expect to see a new central defensive pairing next season. Ten Hag’s backline was led by the Argentine international as Ajax won the Eredivisie last season. He was even selected Player of the Season by the team.

At £57 million, the former Defensa player is currently United’s second most expensive defender after Harry Maguire.

To be honest, we spent over the odds to sign the player, and if the manager was so keen to acquire his man, he will undoubtedly start him. The question is, who will take Martinez’s place at the start?

Tuanzebe, Bailly, and Jones might all leave Old Trafford this summer (The Mirror).

Maguire, who was signed for £80 million (Goal) and remains the most expensive defender in football history, has managed to keep the captain’s armband despite being arguably our weakest central defender last season. Should our captain sit on the bench?

Varane is the team’s most accomplished player, having won the World Cup and the Champions League four times. Injuries hampered him last season, but even when healthy, he was unable to command the backline consistently.

Lindelof joined the club when Mourinho was in charge, and the Swedish international hasn’t done anything since. He was our third-choice cornerback last season and could fall farther down the pecking order now that Martinez has arrived.

United was quite weak at the defense, conceding 57 goals in the league, and it is difficult to confidently pick anyone to start based on last season’s performance. Still, if I had to pick one, it would be Varane because he is a great champion who was unlucky with injuries in his first season in the Premier League. Let’s hope the Frenchman stays healthy for the next season.

Who, in your opinion, should play with Lisandro Martinez in the central defense next season?
