Karim Benzema is out of contract with Real Madrid in the summer (although his deal will reportedly be extended until 2024) and with the forward adamant he will retire at Real Madrid, their attentions have naturally turned to a replacement.

Whether they are actually considering him at this point is hard to tell.

It could just be his revival at Arsenal has seen him added to a journalist’s list of players who might be an option for the Spaniards.

Jesus’s form in front of goal has dropped off somewhat in recent weeks. The 25-year-old, who has five goals and seven assists in 16 games, hasn’t found the back of the net since he scored against Spurs on 1 October.

Speaking to the media before Arsenal’s game against PSV, Jesus said, “I’m eating well, sleeping well. I’m enjoying life in my new shirt.

“I’m ready to play 50, 60, 70 games this season. I live with my daughter, which helps me to mentally recover from playing and training.

“It’s [his goal drought] happened before and I’m sure it will happen again. That’s football. I don’t want it to be like this.

“I want to improve. Next game I will try again and 100% I will score.”

Of course, he didn’t score against PSV, nor against Nottingham Forest as Arsenal won 5-0. He did, however, grab two assists.
