He stated that the Dutchman should only keep Ronaldo at Old Trafford if he has made plans for the types of players that can play pressing football and provide passes for him [Ronaldo] to score goals.

Ronaldo is said to have told Manchester United’s hierarchy that he wants to quit the club this summer due to the club’s lack of Champions League action next season.

The captain of Portugal has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

After being unable to join the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia due to ‘family concerns,’ the former Real Madrid and Juventus player has been practicing alone.

“The first thing you notice about Cristiano Ronaldo is his goals.” It comes down to whether the manager believes, “Yes, he’s not going to press, but do you have enough players in the team who will press for him?” Lawrenson stated to Paddy Power.

“And if you have, you keep him because, without a doubt, when you give him the chance, he scores.”

“Having Ten Hag’s own men in the dressing room changes the scenario tremendously.”

“There were fractures in the dressing room last season, and everyone could see it.”

Lawrenson stated that the 37-year-old football legend simply enjoys scoring goals and is likely to score more this season with Ten Hag’s tranquil dressing room.
