Nkunku, a dynamic winger, scored an incredible 35 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season and has already been called up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the World Cup.

Three years ago, Unai Emery wanted to sign Nkunku for Arsenal, but instead chose to sign Denis Suarez on loan from Celta Vigo.

Nkunku has since excelled in Germany and is now desired by a number of Europe’s heavyweight teams, but at this point, a move to England appears to be the most likely option.

Erik ten Hag, the next United manager, is aiming to bolster his front line this summer, and Nkunku has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after Ralf Rangnick was taken aback when the club’s scouting department had no information on the player when he arrived last December.

Following Roman Abramovich’s departure, Todd Boehly has taken leadership of Chelsea, and the club is slated to undergo a massive renovation in the coming season.

Nkunku revealed he had a crucial decision to make this summer ahead of France’s Nations League encounter against Croatia on Monday, adding that the World Cup in Qatar in November will play a vital role in his thinking.

‘It’s no secret that there are clubs interested in me,’ he told Telefoot. Yes, it is enticing. It’s also flattering to have a club like Leipzig putting in so much effort to keep me.

‘We’ll have to think hard and make a wise judgment here.’ The World Cup is approaching, and this is an important factor to consider.

‘As I already stated, all you have to do now is think it through.’
