Manchester United second signing missed club training today to complete medical at Old Trafford
Christian Eriksen, a free agent, is anticipated to join MAN UTD.
According to sources, Manchester United-bound Christian Eriksen has yet to inform Brentford that he will not be re-signing with the Bees. The Danish midfielder is a free agent after his contract with Brentford expired at the end of June and is expected to join the Red Devils.
Eriksen is a priority goal for new United manager Erik ten Hag, who wants the Dutchman to play his preferred style at Old Trafford. Since Ten Hag’s hiring was announced at the end of last season, the Premier League club has been pursuing Eriksen and Barcelona star, Frenkie de Jong.
After departing Inter Milan, the 30-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur player spent the second half of the season at Brentford. His outstanding performance was critical to Thomas Frank’s side surviving their inaugural season in the Premier League.
However, it piqued the interest of far bigger clubs, with Eriksen allegedly ready to join United. According to multiple reports, the Danish international will be subjected to a comprehensive physical due to his Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) before signing a three-year contract at Old Trafford.
According to the I newspaper, Eriksen apparently did not inform Brentford of his intention to reject their offer in favor of United’s on Monday. Brentford’s request was premised on the playmaker being important to the club’s continued development under head coach Frank.
Despite the club’s recent troubles, the Bees were reportedly resigned to losing the talent due to the attraction of United. However, they had not been informed of Eriksen’s final decision until Monday.
Eriksen’s selection is a big coup for United, especially given that the former Ajax man had seriously pondered extending his contract with Brentford. Ten Hag believes that the midfielder, along with De Jong, is crucial to his restoration.
The new manager has had a rough start, with United’s protracted transfer talks with Barcelona over De Jong taking up a lot of time. However, it has been widely speculated that the 52-year-first old’s signing will be Tyrell Malacia.
United beat Lyon to the left-back from Feyenoord, who was spotted at the club’s Carrington training facility on Monday morning ahead of his medical. The 22-year-old will set you back approximately £13 million.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain, with the player reportedly telling the Old Trafford leadership that he will leave if an acceptable offer is made. Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing the 37-year-old.
