Better than Sancho: MUFC will regret their failure to sign £38m star who’s “like Saka”

Sancho’s conspicuous absence from Sunday’s matchday squad against Arsenal raised eyebrows, with Ten Hag later confirming that the decision was a result of the player’s lackluster performances in training.
In response, Sancho took to Twitter to refute these claims, deeming them “untrue” and suggesting that he has been unfairly cast as a “scapegoat” during his time at Old Trafford.
Such comments are unlikely to sit well with Ten Hag, who has already shown his assertive side by parting ways with Cristiano Ronaldo and stripping Harry Maguire of the captaincy during his tenure. Sancho’s days at the club could be numbered.
Sancho’s decline at Manchester United raises questions about what went wrong for the Englishman at the Theatre of Dreams. Not too long ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed the £73 million signing as a vital addition to his squad upon his arrival from Germany in 2021.
Fans hoped that Sancho, a former Manchester City asset, would make an immediate impact, given his impressive track record of 114 goals and assists in 137 games for his previous club. However, his time at Old Trafford has been marked by turbulence and disappointment.
Sancho endured a challenging season, missing a significant portion due to physical and mental challenges, according to Ten Hag. Despite high hopes for rejuvenation, he ended the season with just seven goals and three assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Over the past two years, Sancho has contributed only 12 goals and assists in a total of 82 appearances. This decline is why reports suggested that Manchester United was open to selling him for £45 million over the summer, with Ten Hag growing increasingly frustrated with his lackluster performances.
In hindsight, Manchester United may regret not securing a suitable replacement for the London-born winger. Emerging talents like Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United could have filled the void left by Sancho’s struggles.
