‘incredible…’ – Marcus Rashford breaks silence on Cristiano Ronaldo exit from Manchester United
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has praised Cristiano Ronaldo following his departure from the club earlier this week.
Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United earlier this week, Marcus Rashford paid tribute to his ‘hero’ and thanked him for everything he achieved for the club.
The 37-year-old was officially released from his contract on Tuesday after both sides agreed to end it in the aftermath of his now-infamous explosive chat with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo destroyed bridges with United and manager Erik ten Hag in an explosive interview, claiming he was repeatedly humiliated by the club.
United will now look to acquire a new striker in the January transfer window to compensate for the loss of the Portuguese forward, with Rashford among those charged with leading the line for the remainder of the season.
Despite the bitter nature of his leaving, Rashford had nothing but kind things to say about Ronaldo when questioned about him on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s been an incredible experience to play with him,” Rashford said from England’s camp in Qatar. “He is one of my inspirations and someone I have always admired. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I wish him the best of luck, and we want to thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.”
