Sabitzer was named to the starting lineup for the City Ground match against Nottingham Forst, but he left the pitch early during the warm-up and proceeded directly down the tunnel, implying a late withdrawal.

Christian Eriksen was advised to begin a more strenuous warm-up with Sabitzer in the dressing room, and it was formally revealed minutes later that he would be replacing the Austrian loanee in the starting lineup due to an injury.

United is dealing with an injury crisis, and Ten Hag delivered an update on Sabitzer following the 2-0 victory.

“He had a problem during the warm-up,” Ten Hag explained to MUTV. “We didn’t want to take the risk because we already had some injuries, so we’ll find out tomorrow [Monday].” Hopefully, it isn’t a serious injury. We chose not to take any risks in the game.

“[That’s because] you either have to take him off quickly and risk injuring him further.”

Sabitzer will be evaluated for his injuries at Carrington, and an update on the situation will be provided as soon as possible.

United is currently dealing with injuries to Tom Heaton, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Donny Van de Beek, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Sabitzer.

Shaw and McTominay, on the other hand, should be back in the starting lineup against Sevilla on Thursday.
