The pair have joined a handful of United players on the sidelines for the final six weeks of the season. Due to a sore knee, Malacia was not included in the matchday squad, with Diogo Dalot moving across to left-back, and Marcel Sabitzer being substituted by Christian Eriksen after reporting an issue in the warm-up.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were both forced off against Sevilla last week, with the former ruled out for the season, while Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, and others have been out in recent weeks.

The new injuries have only exacerbated United’s problem, which has three tournaments to contend with and up to 13 games left to play between now and June. Erik ten Hag will be hoping that a lot of individuals who are currently unavailable will be available for Thursday’s Europa League second leg in Seville, and MEN Sport has compiled a list of everyone who is currently unavailable.

Sabitzer
Unknown injury

“He had a problem in the warm-up,” Ten Hag added. We didn’t want to take the chance because we had had some injuries, so we’ll find out tomorrow [Monday]. Hopefully, it isn’t a serious injury. We chose not to take any risks in the game. [This is because] you either have to take him off quickly or risk injuring him further.”

Tyrell Malacia

Return date: Thursday (against. Sevilla).

Ten Hag has stated: N/A

Lisandro Martinez

Pre-season is a possible return date.

“Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the rest of the season after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his foot,” the club said.

“However, the Argentine defender is expected to recover fully in time for the start of next season.”

Raphael Varane

Return date: May 4 (against. Brighton).

According to the club, “Raphael Varane was also substituted with an injury at half-time in the same game and is expected to be out for a few weeks.”

Scott McTominay

Return date: Thursday (against. Sevilla).

“Could be, but we’ll have to see, and we have two sessions left,” Ten Hag remarked. I’m not sure yet, but Scott and Luke could return to the squad [against Forest].”

Marcus Rashford
Groin strain

Return date: Thursday (against. Sevilla).

“There is a chance [he could play at Sevilla], but I can’t confirm it right now,” Ten Hag remarked.

Luke Shaw

Return date: Thursday (against. Sevilla).

“Could be, but we’ll have to see, and we have two sessions left,” Ten Hag remarked. I’m not sure yet, but Scott and Luke could return to the squad [against Forest].”

Garnacho
Ankle injury

Unknown possible return date

“We have something in our heads, but I don’t want to [reveal it] – he will definitely be back before the end of the season,” Ten Hag has remarked.

“I believe he is in the final stages, but I don’t want to put too much pressure on the medical and Garnacho to set a return date.”

Heaton
Ankle injury

Return date: Thursday (against. Sevilla).

“Yeah, unfortunately, the day before the Fulham game, I rolled my ankle in training,” Heaton remarked. Thankfully, it’s not too bad, but I’ll be out for a few weeks. “I should be back in April somewhere, hopefully halfway through.”

Van de Beek
Injury to the knee

Pre-season is a possible return date.

Ten Hag stated, “Of course, the bad news is that he is out for the rest of the season, but the good news is that his knee will be fine in the long run, and he will be ready to play at the highest levels and for the start of pre-season.”
