Following a disastrous season, Gunners supporter Morgan believes Red Devils icon Ronaldo would be more suited to the Emirates than Old Trafford. Since signing a two-year contract last summer, the 37-year-old and his colleagues have been knocked out of every cup tournament and are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League.

Morgan told talkSPORT: “Do you know what I’d do if I was Arsenal manager?” I’d go in, grab Cristiano Ronaldo, and position him in front. I had this discussion with him last week. ‘Come to Arsenal,’ I replied.

“United have considerably more experienced and accomplished players on paper, but they lack the correct attitude.” The mental attitude is in shambles. They would not be winning if Ronaldo was not in the team, whereas Arsenal has young, bright, eager players with a terrific mindset. [Emile] Smith and [Bukayo] Saka Rowe, [Kieran] Tierney, and the rest of them.

“That’s what’s reassuring. If you matched United’s talent with our philosophy, both clubs would be in good shape. I’d love to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal, and I’m not joking. If he isn’t staying at United, I’d grab him in a hurry.

“I saw that game over the weekend, and he was the best player on the field.” When you witness Ronaldo’s movement and goalscoring record as a striker, even at 37, I’d put Ronaldo in front and let these kids learn from him.

“I don’t think there’s a lot of respect for Ronaldo among the younger United players.” I believe that egos are writing checks that the lack of championships cannot cash, and my message to all of the young United stars is that you’re talented, but your egos are out of control, and you should be begging Ronaldo for help.

“If you had a tenth of his work ethic, ability, success, and trophies all over the world, you’d be far better than you are now, but those guys have an arrogance about them that we don’t have at Arsenal.”

This summer, Arsenal will require significant offensive reinforcements. Following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are likely to become free agents.

Meanwhile, once Edinson Cavani’s contract expires, United will be left with only Ronaldo in their forward ranks.
