Man Utd takeover: Sheikh Jassim has no chance despite being ‘tempted’ by signing

Manchester United takeover: Sheikh Jassim is reportedly interested in a deal for Kylian Mbappe, although that is unlikely to materialize at Old Trafford this summer.

Sheikh Jassim was recently said to be ‘tempted’ by the potential of bringing Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United. It’s simple to see why, with the Paris Saint-Germain star being one of the best players in the world. But a trade won’t happen this summer, with the Red Devils having no chance of gaining the striker’s signature.

Manchester United is looking for a new striker this summer.

Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Rasmus Hojlund, and Goncalo Ramos have all been linked with moves away from Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli, Atalanta, and Benfica, respectively.

However, United has recently been connected with Mbappe as well.

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who spoke to GiveMeSport, Sheikh Jassim would be enticed by a deal for the PSG star.

“Tempted, yes,” he said. But that’s such a big if, isn’t it?

“It’s such a big if because this takeover saga just rambles on and on and on, and you’ve got to sympathize with Erik ten Hag because we’re talking about, you know, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, can United go in for them?”

“Well, if this takeover takes another one or two months, you know, we’re well into this transfer window, we’re nearing the end of it.”

“Will players wait to see what happens with their futures depending on what happens with the takeover at Manchester United?”

While Sheikh Jassim may wish to bring Mbappe to Old Trafford, it’s difficult to see it happening.

The ship may have already set sail.

When it became evident that Mbappe would be leaving Monaco, United made a bid for him during the summer transfer window of 2017.

They made a £72 million bid, with Jose Mourinho as manager at the time.

Mbappe, on the other hand, chose PSG.

It’s no secret that he wants to play for Real Madrid, despite having turned the La Liga giants down twice before.

And, with Los Blancos looking for a world-class striker to replace Karim Benzema, Real Madrid appear to be the frontrunner.

After all, Mbappe grew up idolizing Cristiano Ronaldo.

While the veteran established his reputation at United, his best years were spent in Madrid, where the 38-year-old led Real to four Champions League wins.
