Sofyan Amrabat has made it clear that his heart was set on joining Manchester United, despite interest from arch-rivals Liverpool, as both clubs vied for his signature during the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who previously plied his trade at Fiorentina, sealed a season-long loan deal with the Red Devils, with the option for a permanent transfer at the end of the campaign should he excel in the Premier League.

Amrabat’s impressive performances at the World Cup in Qatar last year reportedly attracted the attention of Liverpool, with rumors suggesting that Jurgen Klopp personally engaged the player’s agent in discussions about a potential move.

However, Amrabat ultimately chose to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. The Morocco international had previously been part of Ten Hag’s squad at Utrecht at the outset of his career, and he found the opportunity to work with the Dutchman again too enticing to pass up.
