Despite already securing their spot in the final competition, Scotland manager Steve Clarke fielded a robust lineup for the match.

McTominay’s crucial equalizer, making it 1-1 after the break, highlighted his impact.

Although Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s second goal hinted at a Georgian victory, a late twist saw Lawrence Shankland coming off the bench to score a stoppage-time equalizer.

McTominay, the standout performer for Scotland, netted his seventh goal in the qualifying campaign at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

Beyond his goal-scoring contribution, he displayed exceptional accuracy, completing 42 out of 43 passes (98% accuracy).

Notably, he achieved a perfect record in both long balls and dribbles, losing possession only four times.

While excelling on the international stage, McTominay faces the challenge of replicating such performances at the club level with Manchester United.

In the Premier League this season, his passing accuracy stands at 83%, and he has encountered periodic struggles with ball retention.

With an opportunity to secure a regular starting role following Casemiro’s injury, McTominay must elevate his consistency post the international break.

Failure to do so may open the door for manager Erik ten Hag to consider alternative options like Sofyan Amrabat in the starting XI.
