Following their devastating setback to Everton a week ago, Ralf Rangnick will be eager for an instant response from his side, with three points crucial to keep their narrow hopes of a top-four finish alive.

Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Diogo Dalot, and Anthony Elanga have all been brought in as replacements for the team that lost at Goodison Park.

Rangnick defended his side selection and the inclusion of Lingard to MUTV ahead of the game: “We are without a few of our midfield players and in the previous three games we have struggled to score goals and create huge chances,” the interim manager said.

“That’s why I went with Bruno and Jesse in midfield, as well as Paul. On the pitch, we have enough ingenuity to create scoring opportunities. Defensively, it’s equally crucial to strike the appropriate balance.”

After an exceptional run of play at youth level, Argentine winger Garnacho has been rewarded with his first bench appearance, and Rangnick believes it may be the start of a very bright future at the club.

He said, ” “He’s been with us for the past two weeks and is one of our most promising players. He’s only 17, but if he keeps his feet on the ground, he won’t only be on the bench; he’ll be playing for this club.”
