In his initial summer at Manchester United, the Dutch manager brought back Lisandro Martinez and Antony from Ajax, where they were part of the title-winning squad in 2020/21 and 2021/22.

Martinez, despite facing injury challenges in late 2023, is considered one of the club’s “best signings” by Patrice Evra.

However, Antony has struggled, contributing eight goals and three assists in 66 games since his £86m arrival.

Expanding his Dutch connections, Ten Hag also acquired Tyrell Malacia and Wout Weghorst. In the recent summer window, he continued the trend by signing Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat, both former players from Ajax and Utrecht, respectively.

While Martinez and Onana have shown promise, Amrabat had limited impact, starting just seven Premier League games.

Now, there are reports that United is interested in 21-year-old striker Brian Brobbey from Ajax, another player previously coached by Ten Hag.

The manager seeks to bolster the striking department, providing competition for Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial.

However, the financial constraints at the club might limit them to a loan deal, complicating any potential move for Brobbey, who is not available for a temporary transfer.

If United can secure funds for a permanent deal, they could potentially sign Brobbey, who turned them down in the summer of 2022 before returning to Ajax from RB Leipzig.
