Andre Onana believes he accepts responsibility for every goal Manchester United concedes, emphasizing that he is willing to accept the strain of being No. 1.

Lens attacker Florian Sotoca lobbed the goalkeeper from the center circle 35 minutes into his Old Trafford debut against the French side on Saturday. Onana has been seen high up the pitch when United is in possession in his three games so far.

However, a botched pass by Diogo Dalot allowed Lens to retrieve the ball and take advantage of the shot-stopper’s aggressive positioning. After the game, Onana stated that he was pleased to make his debut but is willing to accept responsibility for Lens’ goal.

“I’m happy for the win,” he told MUTV. Of course, we can always improve. Some issues must be addressed. As I constantly say, I am responsible for everything, especially when goals are conceded.

“Because I’m the big man in the back, I take all the criticism and pressure.” It was a terrific game for me and the guys, with some crucial goals, and I’m grateful for everything.”

Onana is upbeat about the upcoming season, which kicks off with a home Premier League match against Wolves a week from Monday. He expressed his faith in his teammates ahead of the curtain-raiser.

“I think this year will be great, and I am very excited for the upcoming games,” he continued. I’m already looking forward to Wolves, but we’ll need to prepare thoroughly because it won’t be simple. Everyone is working hard, and I’m convinced that if we do the proper things, everything will be fine.”

When asked about his first appearance at Old Trafford, Onana replied, “I am so happy for my debut.” The most important thing, though, was the victory. [The supporters’ cheering during the warm-up] was a nice welcome for me. “I am overjoyed with the victory; today was crucial, and now we must prepare for the upcoming games.”
