According to today’s edition of Marca (news image below), the Red Devils have formally sought to sign the Barcelona star on an initial loan.

The present contract of the former Chelsea defender at the Nou Camp expires in the summer of 2024, with a release clause of £42.8 million.

According to a well-known Spanish media site, Manchester United has offered Alonso a two-year contract, which includes one year on loan and another year once his contract with Barcelona finishes.

According to reports, the 32-year-old is considering a move to Old Trafford since the Blaugrana want to replace him with Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo.

According to Marca, the arrangement with the Portuguese international is finalized. The Guardian reports that the 29-year-old is on the verge of joining Barcelona.

Apart from the League Cup, Alonso won every major award during his tenure at Chelsea before heading to Spain.

He appeared in 24 games with La Liga champions Xavi Hernandez last season but only started 11.

After warming the bench in the first two games of the season, the 9-cap international played the whole 90 minutes in the 4-3 triumph against Villarreal last weekend.

He possesses the ability and expertise to bolster United’s defense. Should Manchester United sign Marcos Alonso, in your opinion?
