As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United is once again connected with Adrien Rabiot.
According to rumors, Manchester United are interested in signing Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer this summer. The Juventus star’s contract in Turin is set to expire at the conclusion of the season, and he has yet to sign a new contract. And, with Erik Ten Hag reportedly likely to earn only £100 million this summer, released players may wind up at Old Trafford…
After missing out on Frenkie de Jong, United pursued Rabiot last summer, only for the deal to fall through.
Instead, they signed Casemiro, a Brazilian international who has been on fire since his sensational move from Real Madrid.
However, United appears to be interested in Rabiot once more.
According to reports, Erik ten Hag has already met with the player, who would provide experience to the Dutchman’s side if he moved to Old Trafford.
So, amid reports that United will not have an unlimited budget to spend this summer, Express Sport looks at other free agents who could be of interest…
It’s perplexing that nobody has opted to pursue Youri Tielemans just yet.
To be sure, the Leicester City star has had a rough season, with his team looking increasingly likely to be relegated to the Championship.
However, Tielemans has always been a reliable performer who would benefit most top-flight teams.
United was connected in January but instead chose to sign Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich.
Tielemans appears set to depart Leicester regardless of whether they avoid relegation, and he’d be a wise signing for Ten Hag to make.
After Cristiano Ronaldo departed the club in November, there was speculation that Manchester United would pursue a transfer for Marcus Thurham.
That certainly did not happen, with Wout Weghorst arriving from Burnley on a temporary basis.
Thurham, on the other hand, is poised to leave Borussia Monchengladbach and is garnering interest from a number of big clubs, including Bayern Munich.
From 30 games this season, the 25-year-old has 16 goals and six assists.
United could need that kind of calm in front of goal as they attempt to bolster their assault.
In recent years, United has re-signed three players.
Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United in 2016, four years after leaving the club.
And, in 2021, United brought back players like Tom Heaton and Cristiano Ronaldo.
And what about Wilfried Zaha?
He despised life in Manchester the first time around, but as his contract with Crystal Palace expires, he’s now a footballer mature enough to shine at the club if given a second chance.
Moussa Dembele has long been a United fan.
And it’s easy to overlook the fact that the France international is still only 26 years old. He seems to have been playing for a long time, having played for Fulham, Celtic, Atletico Madrid, and Lyon.
In January, he was connected with United, along with Thurham and Tielemans.
The France international is expected to depart Lyon for free at the moment.
And if Ten Hag decides to reignite interest in a player previously pursued by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho, he may be a low-cost, low-risk signing.
