‘One to watch’: Sky reporter has heard Man United could now push to sign ‘wonderful’ midfielder

All the latest Premier League transfer speculations, including Manchester United's pursuit of a left-back and Manchester City's renewed pursuit of a high-priced midfielder.

We are, thank goodness, in the final days of the transfer window, which will close at midnight on Friday. There are still a few teams with significant voids to fill in their rosters in the little time remaining – and while some of that can be attributed to poor preparation, Manchester United aren’t entirely to fault for how badly they need a left-back.

With Tyrell Malacia out for an extended period of time due to injury, the recent injury to Luke Shaw leaves them without a specialist left-back, which is obviously a problem – and so Erik Ten Hag is getting creative with his solutions, one of which is to offer former Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso a return to the Premier League.

According to Sport Witness, the Spaniard, who has fallen behind young Alejandro Baldé in the Barcelona pecking order, would arrive on an initial year-long loan with another year pre-arranged after his contract with the Catalan giants expires. Meanwhile, Sky Sports believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilón and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella are among the candidates.
