Man Utd takeover: David Beckham sends Glazers five-word message as sale delay rumbles on

David Beckham has made his feelings on Manchester United's takeover obvious to the Glazers.

David Beckham has warned the Glazer family that Manchester United must be sold because “there needs to change” at Old Trafford. The United acquisition process will shortly reach its ninth month, leaving fans, bidders, and Erik ten Hag dissatisfied with the ongoing decision-making process.

The Glazers have been unable to reach an agreement despite many waves of bids since announcing their intention to seek financing through a potential sale in November.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe are vying for control of Manchester United.

Sheikh Jassim wants a complete sale and has promised to pay off United’s debts through his newly formed Nine Two Foundation.

Meanwhile, Ratcliffe is aiming for a controlling ownership, leaving Joel and Avram Glazer with approximately 20% of the club.

However, supporters and parties appear to have been kept in the dark about the Glazers’ thinking, and Beckham believes it is time for a change.

“I believe [the Glazers should sell].” I believe it is solely due to fan demand. “It’s difficult to win back fans, especially at a club like Manchester United,” Beckham told The Athletic.

“Obviously, they [the Glazers] have accomplished a lot, and the fact that we’re even discussing the numbers of what Manchester United will sell for demonstrates their success.”

“However, change is required. That is something we have all witnessed. That is something we are all aware of.”

Beckham went on to say that if the Glazers decide to end their 18-year reign, he wants five things from potential new owners.

“Off the field, as a fan and ex-player, I just want it resolved,” he stated. There must be a decision [about ownership].

“You want whoever runs your club to be passionate, involved, to make the right decisions, to bring in the right players, and to invest in the club.”

“Because the club does require investment, whether it’s in the training facility, stadium, or on the field… these kinds of big things must be made, and changes must be made, especially when you see what Man City is doing.”
