Over the weekend, Roma administrators Ryan Friedkin and Tiago Pinto traveled to London for face-to-face talks with Chelsea about bringing Lukaku to the Italian city for the season.

And the clubs have now reached an agreement on a straight loan arrangement, including a loan fee of around £8 million.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan after falling out of favor at Chelsea following a contentious interview in which he expressed dissatisfaction with previous head coach Thomas Tuchel.

The striker was eager to return to Italy and was willing to travel to Rome in order to train with boss Jose Mourinho again.

Earlier this summer, Juventus held conversations with Chelsea about signing Lukaku, while Inter was also interested in bringing the Belgian international back to Italy.

Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia were also interested in signing the 30-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Inter in August 2021 for £97.5 million.

Bayern Munich has made preliminary contact with Chelsea about signing defender Trevoh Chalobah.

Chalobah is being considered as a potential replacement for Benjamin Pavard. Inter Milan is also in talks to sign the French international.

If a deal with Chelsea can be reached, the player will make the final decision.

Chalobah’s contract is up in five years, with a one-year extension option.

Meanwhile, midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu is anticipated to remain in the starting lineup.

Chelsea was thinking about loaning him to Strasbourg for the season.
