Manchester United have inquired about signing the 29-year-old goalkeeper, who has made 225 appearances for Benfica since joining the Portuguese giants from Panathinaikos in 2018.

According to the Daily Mail, United are looking for a backup goalkeeper after Crystal Palace initiated talks over a trade for Dean Henderson last week, who is also being courted by Nottingham Forest.

Radek Vitek came off the bench in Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Saturday, with Tom Heaton and Jordan Henderson still out injured.

If this trade goes through, it will be a complete overhaul of the goalkeeper position at Manchester United, which has also brought in Andre Onana from Inter this summer.

Erik ten Hag had some issues with this position last season, and the Dutch coach is making sure it doesn’t happen again this season.
