Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has reportedly piqued the interest of several Saudi Arabian clubs, fueling rumors of a move away from Old Trafford before the end of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old French attacker did not play in any pre-season games for the Red Devils after suffering a hamstring injury late last season.

Though Martial sat out United’s Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers, he did make a brief appearance in the last stages of their 2-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

United’s attacking options appear to be limited as a result of Rasmus Hojlund’s recent injury. So far this season, this has forced the use of Marcus Rashford as the central striker.

Rashford’s performances against Wolves and Tottenham were underwhelming, prompting speculation that coach Erik ten Hag planned to bring in another forward alongside Hojlund this summer.

However, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, United may find it difficult to recruit another striker unless some players leave before the transfer window shuts.

Ten Hag has intimated that players like Brandon Williams and Donny van de Beek could be on the move, and the fates of Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Eric Bailly are also up in the air.

According to The Mirror, Martial might be among those likely to leave, with teams in Saudi Arabia showing keen interest. West Ham United is also thought to be interested, but it’s unclear whether they can compete financially with bids from the Saudi Pro League.

Surprisingly, Al-Hilal first saw Martial as a potential replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic. They did, however, recently sign Mitrovic from Fulham.

Martial’s time at United began in 2015, when he joined from Monaco. Since then, he has appeared in 299 tournaments for the Red Devils, scoring 88 goals and assisting on 53 others.

He was limited to 29 appearances last season, during which he scored nine goals. While it’s unlikely that United would allow Martial to leave without a suitable successor, there have been rumors that the club is looking for a new defensive midfielder.

The Red Devils, anxious to put their recent defeat behind them, are preparing to host Nottingham Forest this weekend.
