Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has come under fire following Sevilla’s unexpected withdrawal from the Europa League.

The Frenchman joined the Spanish club on a six-month loan agreement in January, hoping to gain playing time before his parent club’s next manager is selected.

So far, he has played in eight games and scored one. His three outings in the Europa League have all come in the competition.

However, despite winning the first leg 1-0, his squad was eliminated from the competition by Premier League side West Ham United last week.

Martial came off the bench in the first leg but was given the go-ahead to start in the second, where he failed to make an impression as the Andalusians were knocked out of European play after losing twice.

This sparked outrage among fans, who anticipated the club to reach the final, as it does in most seasons it competes in this league.

According to Sport Witness, Martial is one of the players whose performance last week enraged supporters.

The entire team, including the United star, struggled to connect with their opponents and appeared disoriented throughout the game.

Due to injuries and a lack of form among the other forwards, Martial has been able to leap right in for the Spanish team and start in certain league matches.

He hasn’t been able to deliver the attacking threat he once did at United, and despite playing eight games, he has only scored one goal in all competitions.

Several Spanish media publications have raised concerns about the 26-year-old while mentioning the reason he was first loaned out.

According to Diario de Sevilla,’ much more is anticipated’ of the Frenchman, who has only 10 more league games to play before the season ends.

According to the newspaper, the striker ‘run out of gas’ following a strong start to the game.

ABC According to Sevilla, Martial was “signed for nights” like the Europa League second leg but “didn’t show there.”

They maintain that he was ‘erratic, confused in his driving, and did not look in front of goal’ for the entire 90 minutes (translated quotes via Sport Witness).

United fans will be hoping that the striker can regain some form before returning to the club following a poor couple of seasons.
