Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returned to Manchester United this week following a vacation in his homeland of Norway, with his future in doubt.

He understands that another run of form like the one United had before the international break will leave club executives with no choice but to end his reign.

So, after recharging his batteries with a week off in his homeland, he headed right back to work at the start of this week in preparation for a full schedule of games.

His first goal, according to The Sun, was to ‘immediately’ try to improve the attitude at the Carrington training base.

Leading members of the dressing room are said to be “becoming disillusioned” with Solskjaer’s approach, according to the newspaper.

But he’s determined to get United back on track, and he’s taking a positive attitude to do so.

This season, many members of the Red Devils’ squad have expressed their dissatisfaction in public, and it appears that this is also the case behind closed doors.

After being rejected, not subbed, by the Norwegian once again in September, Donny van de Beek was seen making an outburst from the Old Trafford bench.

And Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes have fought in the middle of games on several occasions, both apparently irritated by United’s methods.

They’ll ease back into the Premier League calendar on Saturday with a trip to Watford, which should be a simple encounter.

The midweek Champions League match against Villarreal, on the other hand, represents a crucial moment in the season.

At Old Trafford, United narrowly defeated the Spanish team, and while a draw might suffice this time, a loss would be disastrous.

Solskjaer can try his hardest to boost the team’s spirit, but the results will ultimately define the atmosphere so far, his career has been preserved by a lack of a certain replacement, but failing to reach the Champions League knockout stages for the second consecutive season would be a deadly blow.
