According to the Evening Standard, Maguire has signaled his desire to join the Hammers if a fee can be agreed upon with Manchester United.

West Ham launched a £30 million bid for the England international as part of their expansion aspirations, after agreeing a £32 million deal to recruit Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.

And, despite starting only eight Premier League games for Manchester United last season, Maguire is allegedly excited about a move to the London Stadium.

Indeed, the 30-year-old is conscious that a lack of playing time under Erik ten Hag may jeopardize his England ambitions ahead of Euro 2024 next year.

West Ham’makes Maguire promise’

According to a ‘ex-West Ham employee’ (via West Ham transfers), Moyes has assured Maguire that if he joins the club this summer, he will become captain.

Indeed, West Ham’s last captain, Declan Rice, joined Arsenal earlier this summer in a £105 million move.

And Maguire, who was sacked as United captain last month, has apparently been offered the chance to take the armband in east London.

Maguire might move if United and West Ham agree on a £35 million fee, according to Sky Sports writer Melissa Reddy.

“There’s a lot more optimism on [West Ham’s] end of getting a deal for Harry Maguire over the line because Manchester United is still considering their £30 million bid for the defender,” she said.

“That club valued him at around £40 million, but a compromise of around £35 million could result in a transfer.” So West Ham and Manchester United are not far apart in terms of pricing points for Maguire.

“Erik ten Hag has made it clear that he is happy to keep Maguire in the squad as one of his center-back options, but the club does not want to stand in the way of him getting more minutes elsewhere.” So negotiations with West Ham continue. That comes close.
