Manchester United won the Europa League on Thursday night with a goal from Scott McTominay after dominating the game for 90 minutes.

On Thursday night, Manchester United frequently broke down the Omonoia defense but couldn’t get past goalie Francis Uzoho. The Nigerian, a self-professed Manchester United fan, made double digits in saves but couldn’t stop McTominay’s late score.

 

Cristiano Ronaldo was given the start, as he typically does in Europe, but his response when McTominay scored was odd. Ronaldo appeared to plead for offside, as shown in the screenshot and video below.

 

Ronaldo’s reaction didn’t last long before he began to celebrate with his teammates, but there’s no explanation for why he held his palm in the air facing the linesman.

 

The ball appeared to be fired close him, where he could have been in an offside position, so perhaps he was trying to provoke the linesman because he felt sorry for the other goalkeeper, who didn’t deserve to lose.
