Manchester United have named Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay to their squad for tomorrow’s Premier League match against Arsenal.

United’s players arrived at Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon for the travel to London in preparation for Saturday’s vital match at the Emirates. Arsenal’s midweek triumph over Chelsea has boosted their position in the race for fourth, with Ralf Rangnick’s team currently three points behind the Gunners and Tottenham.

Both of those teams have a game in hand, albeit against each other, but United will feel they need a win at the Emirates to re-establish their top-four ambitions. Varane has missed United’s last three games due to a calf injury. McTominay has missed the same three games, although he was on the bench at Anfield on Tuesday, despite the fact that he hadn’t trained and was just there in case of an emergency.

Rangnick also announced that Cristiano Ronaldo will return to the squad. The 37-year-old returned to training on Wednesday after missing the Liverpool game due to compassionate leave following the death of his baby boy.

“Scott McTominay will be back and fit to play; he has been training with us and will train today; he will be available for the game.” Raphael Varane will also be ready for the game. Cristiano Ronaldo is back in training with us,” Rangnick stated earlier on Friday.

“Everyone else, including Paul Pogba, is still injured.” Paul, based on the scan we did the day before yesterday, it appears that he will not be able to play until the conclusion of the season for the second time.

“The doctor informed me it will take at least four weeks for him to recuperate, and the last game is definitely towards the end of May.” “I don’t think he’ll be able to play again [this season].”

After Erik ten Hag’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday, the United team will go south knowing that he will be their new manager.

“We don’t know each other in person, and we haven’t met in person yet,” Rangnick remarked of Ten Hag. “From what I’ve seen him do at Bayern Munich as the Under-23 coach and now at Ajax, I enjoy his game, and I’m very confident that with a complete pre-season, with the opportunity to develop and mold his own staff, as well as a new team, which is evident, we will have a new team.” With a full pre-season, I am confident that we will witness a different team and greater improvement on the field.

“I knew Erik was one of the candidates the board interviewed, and clearly I told them, based on what I had seen and heard from colleagues who had worked with Erik, that I thought he would be a terrific option, and I still feel he will be a very good decision.”

“Everything else we haven’t had time to talk about.”

There were 12 players spotted arriving at Manchester Airport, although the majority of the squad were permitted to park at the private terminal, with the remaining squad members having to use a separate car park before being bused to the terminal.

David de Gea, Tom Heaton, Dean Henderson, Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes, and Juan Mata have all been included to the team.
