According to the Manchester Evening News, United will want to sign another center-back this summer, and Pau Torres is back on the club’s radar. Despite the fact that United paid £34 million to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid last August.

Harry Maguire has had a horrible season, while Varane has missed 16 games across all competitions due to injury or illness this season. Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are also expected to be allowed to depart the club.

Rudiger has established himself as one of the world’s greatest center-backs while playing for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel. The German played a key role in the London club’s Champions League triumph last season, but he is out of contract this season.

Rudiger’s future at Stamford Bridge is questionable because Chelsea is subject to financial repercussions. The player is reported to want to stay at Chelsea, although reports have linked him to United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

The MEN understands that United held preliminary conversations with his representation earlier this season, but insiders were not optimistic about a contract because the player wants to play in the Champions League. Saif Rubie, Rudiger’s agent, has now intimated that the interest is still ongoing by posting a photo of Sir Alex Ferguson on social media with the caption: “Let’s see if I can assist revive this sleeping monster.”

Rudiger’s contract expires at the end of the season, and his agent teasing conversations might be a negotiating strategy.

Rubie’s sole client currently playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues is Chelsea’s, Eden Hazard.
