‘I don’t see top-4…’: Rio Ferdinand says one Man United club record signing must leave for Ten Hag to smell EPL top-4

Antony improved his performance over the weekend, but for Rio Ferdinand, he is still not doing enough.

On Saturday, Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder made four important passes and created a great chance against Nottingham Forest.

This represents a significant improvement for the Brazilian international at Old Trafford, a performance that is more in line with what United expects of him.

Despite this, he simply does not express it enough, and while this was a fantastic performance, he needs to exhibit it more frequently.

Much of his criticism stems from this, with Rio Ferdinand among those pressing Antony to show more.

Antony on Ferdinand

Ferdinand rants about what he wants to see from the winger on his YouTube channel FIVE.

“As a fan, you’re thinking ‘beat him, man’ when he gets the ball 1v1 so many times in the game.”

“He did it once this weekend where he took it on his right foot on the outside and crossed it and created a chance, and I was thinking,’ So you can do it,'” he says.

Ferdinand then went on to describe what he expects from Antony in order to enhance his performance.

“I don’t see it, I don’t think he has the power in his body right now, so I’d like to see him work on his power, his explosiveness, and I think if he can add that to his game, we’ll see him improve again.”

“I want output, chances created, and fullbacks coming off the field… hurting.”

Performance enhancements
United’s number 21 has started the season fairly well and is unlucky not to be making contributions already.

He has already produced two big chances this season that haven’t been converted, which is a significant improvement over last season.

Along with this, his left foot has almost swept the ball into the far corner a couple times.

Finally, his start to the season provides reason to be optimistic about this season, and we believe he will only improve with the addition of Rasmus Hojlund and as this new system becomes more fluid.
