Man Utd target second ‘bad boy’ striker as PSG frontman added to Erik ten Hag shortlist

According to rumors in Argentina, Manchester United are interested in a loan-to-buy deal for PSG bad boy Mauro Icardi. Manager Christophe Galtier has warned the Parc des Prince’s exile that he is free to choose a new club as the Ligue 1 winners look for a new center-forward.

Earlier this summer, PSG attempted to capture West Ham’s new signing Gianluca Scamacca while he was still at Sassuolo, but the deal fell through.

Benfica teenager Goncalo Ramos was also a target, but Newcastle is now poised to leapfrog them in the race for his services.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is also thought to be in the running after ‘good’ discussions with his entourage.

However, in order to make room in the squad, PSG must move Icardi, a 2020 signing from Inter Milan after an impressive loan spell in Paris.

United and Galatasaray are both interested in signing the 29-year-old, according to TyC Sports in South America.

Icardi is known as one of football’s bad boys due to his contentious relationship with his wife and agent Wanda Nara and many clashes with Inter Milan ultras during his stint as captain at the San Siro.

Icardi declined to travel with Inter for a Europa League match against Rapid Vienna near the end of his time with the Nerazzurri before being sold to PSG.

Following the club’s attempt for Marko Arnautovic, he is not the only controversial individual to have been chased by United in recent weeks.

Bologna turned down an initial offer of £7.2 million from the Red Devils before withdrawing their interest owing to fan anger.

Other options being explored by the club are Benjamin Sesko and Sasa Kalajdzic, but United has yet to make a definite commitment to the latter after the Red Bull Salzburg forward inked a contract with RB Leipzig beginning next season.

Icardi is presently training alone while PSG and Nara look for a new club for him.

“The club is collaborating with Mauro to find the best option possible. He had very little game time, and I believe it is best for him to relaunch his career in a more favorable environment “Galter stated on Wednesday.

Icardi is said to be open to a move to Old Trafford if United makes a formal bid.

Agent Nara is alleged to have met with Galatasaray three times in front of a possible transfer to Turkey.

Icardi scored four goals in 24 Ligue 1 games last season, the most he has made in a single season with the French side.

A return to Italy with Roma or Juventus has also been discussed, but thus far PSG has had no bids.
