Cristiano Ronaldo took to social media after Manchester United’s stunning victory over Arsenal.

United weathered a storm before winning 3-1 over the Gunners, who entered the game with an unblemished record this season. But their perfect start is finished after Erik ten Hag’s soldiers swept them aside at Old Trafford. United has won four games in a row and is now fifth in the Premier League, just three points behind Arsenal.

Ronaldo has had an unusual start to the season, following his announcement over the summer that he wanted to quit Manchester United. After the transfer deadline passed without another team making a decent offer, Ronaldo decided to stay put.

Despite being limited to cameo appearances from the bench, the Portuguese player has certainly not given up hope of leaving the club. He congratulated his teammates on Instagram barely hours after their latest victory.

Ronaldo wrote: “Well done, lads! And a big thank you to all of our supporters! Devils, let’s go!” Just before the hour mark, the 37-year-old came on as a substitute for debutant Antony.

Despite appearing in all six Premier League games under Ten Hag, he has started five of them on the bench. “As we all know, he (Ronaldo) didn’t have a pre-season and you cannot skip pre-season, it’s the foundation for everything, especially the way we play,” Ten Hag previously stated of the scenario. In comparison to last year, we play a different kind of football.

“Pre-season determines the demands, cooperation, positioning, in and out of possession, and fitness.” Depending on the circumstances, I will sometimes be his friend and sometimes his teacher.”
