According to an exclusive report by Jeremy Cross for The Daily Star (press image below), Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona to sign the 25-year-old midfielder.

According to the writer, De Jong, who initially refused to join the Red Devils owing to a lack of Champions League play, has now accepted to transfer to Old Trafford.

According to reports, new manager Erik ten Hag is close to making his first signing for Manchester United by reuniting with De Jong.

The Premier League team is sure that the transfer will be completed for a cost of £70 million. The 20-time English champions are willing to pay a £60 million upfront fee and the rest £10 million in bonuses.

De Jong rose to prominence at Ajax under Ten Hag’s coaching. Before joining Barcelona in 2019, he helped the Dutch team capture the league and cup double.

Unfortunately, the Dutch star has never been able to show off his best abilities at the Nou Camp because veteran Busquets has primarily played in his favorite position.

keep an eye out

Ten Hag understands De Jong’s qualities and knows how to get the most out of him at Old Trafford. This transfer story has stretched on much too long, but it appears that it will conclude soon with De Jong joining Manchester United.
