Alex Telles sends a message to Manchester United teammates following confirmation of his departure Manchester United left-back Alex Telles has joined Sevilla on loan for the season.
Alex Telles has informed his Manchester United teammates that he will be keeping an eye on their performances throughout the upcoming season after leaving on a season-long loan to Sevilla.
Telles was pushed out after the acquisition of Tyrell Malacia, making the former Porto man one of the club’s three senior left-backs. The 29-year-old made just 21 Premier League appearances last season and will join the five-time Europa League winners in 2022/23.
Telles was signed to United to compete with Luke Shaw at the start of the 2020/21 season, but he was unable to unseat the England left-back. He did, however, inspire Shaw to have one of his best seasons that year, giving him a starting position for England during last summer’s European Championship.
Telles, meanwhile, failed to sustain his push for Shaw’s position at United, appearing in 50 games across two seasons. He did, however, keep his position in the Brazil team, appearing twice for his country earlier this year.
Telles posted on social media after his contract with Sevilla was confirmed: “To everyone at United: colleagues, staff, and supporters. Throughout the season, I will be rooting for you and cheering you on. Thank you for the experiences thus far.”
Telles said, in reference to his new club, “WE GO! This is a tremendous honor for me. I here with a strong desire to contribute and achieve the best possible results for Sevilla. I can’t wait to make my debut and assist my teammates.”
